RIGGING AND RETRIEVES FOR THE 2” SWIMCRAB

We recommend using our SWIMCRAB jig head for a few key reason, most importantly it helps keep the SWIMCRAB swimming straight on the retrieve by keeping the weight lower and underneath the round profile.

Secondly it helps the lure sit up when making contact with the bottom to keep the hook away from rocks/snags and has a natural defensive crab stance

Recommended rigging weights from 1/8oz to 3/8oz, 1/0 to 2/0 hooks.

The retrieves for the SWIMCRAB are simple, making contact with the bottom is the most important part, from there it can vary from two small hops, sharp or soft lifts with the rod tip and can also be slow rolled, the beauty of the swimming legs is that very time you are moving the lure they are swimming and creating vibration (see video for more)

If you need to rig the SWIMCRAB on a standard jig head then try to rig the weighted part of the jig head facing slightly down rather then straight, this can help track the lure straight through the water BUT we do only recommend our SWIMCRAB Jig Head for standard rigging

The SWIMCRAB can also be rigged to be fished on the surface, for this we are using a hidden weight jig head rigged upside down and tying the leader straight onto the hook shank with a three turn uni knot rather then tying onto the hook loop (see video for introductions)

Best suited to a 1/0 hook and can vary the weight depending on sink rate you want once the lure is paused.

There is a wide variety jig heads and techniques that suit the SWIMMINNOW

Standard jig head rigging weight we recommend from 1/16oz to 1/4oz and #1 to 1/0 hook

We recommend BKK Harpax range, TT Tournament range (we find the headlockz range  keepers are a bit to large for the slim profile of the SWIMMINNOW)

Weedless rigging we recommend a #1 to 1/0 hook and weights from 1/20oz to 1/4oz

Some Brands that suit are Razor Edge Lures Snag-less range, Atomic Seekers EWG is a good option for a twist lock style hook.

Retrieves for the SWIMMINNOW are very simple, again making contact with the bottom is the most important part for most estuary species, check out the video for further details on retrieves.
